Tutors are available in many ways–from real students to learning centers.  The type of tutor needed for your child depends on what the child is having a hard time excelling in.  Students are usually good at one or two things.  Learning centers cater to quite a few learning challenges.  There are five things parents need to understand about their child in order to find the right tutor.

Parents must know their children.  Set goals based on the areas they are struggling in.
Use your resources (school counselor, teacher, friends, family, neighbors, newspapers, Phoenix tutor, etc) to get some tutor options.
Have the financial backing or a payment plan ready for hiring a tutor.
Check their credentials and interview candidates to weed out the ones that aren’t a match.
Look at how the child reacts to the tutor.  The child must be comfortable.  Monitor progress and see if the child improves their grade.
