April 10th, 2012 . by admin

Accidents and injuries in the work place are common challenges that face many employees when performing their official duties. These cases happen mostly in factories and industries where workers are exposed to dangers. Accidents affect the performance of companies due to work stoppages and machine breakage. This also affects the relationship between the employers and employees depending on how the employer treats such cases. Preventive measures need to be implemented in order to reduce cases of injuries at the work place. Employers are solely responsible for the safety of the employees and he should formulate safety policies in the work place. Precautions are used to minimize accident cases and should be known and understood by all employees. Accidents can not be totally eliminated though, especially where the employees use machines and other dangerous facilities. It is therefore the core responsibility of the employer to insure all employees comprehensively and in case of an accident, injured workers have the right to be fully compensated. The employer has an obligation to cater for all the injuries at work compensation thus protecting the affected employees from financial loss. There are various laws that regulate work place accidents compensation. These laws entitle the workers every right to reasonable compensation. It is the duty of the employer to report any serious accident to the relevant authorities and to keep the accidents’ record book. The employee is also entitled to sick off where he needs time to recover. In addition to sick off, he is entitled to be paid while on off duty. The injured at work compensation rights are regulated by laws that cater for the interest of the employees. This is because of some rogue employers that may not be willing to cover the cost of the injuries of the affected workers. This law gives every worker the right to full compensation. Sick off with pay should also be guaranteed by employers. Record book of all accidents at the place of work is kept and maintained by the employer. Report should also be passed to the relevant authorities for official statistical purposes.
